SALUYOT

It was June of this year that I started planting saluyot near my classroom and at our school garden, though in our home they grow abundant in  pots! We harvest everytime we want to taste the freshness of saluyot. I got excited when finally after  2 and a half months , this vegetable has grown healthily in our school garden. I harvested twice now.Its so amazing that they really can grow anywhere, we can have the nutrients our body needed without spending money.
a  morning visit in our garden

so fresh..

newly-harvest saluyot near my classroom.

I learned that saluyot is rich in protein, folate, riboflavin, phosphorous, potassium, thiamin, niacin and iron. Here in our place they don't know much about saluyot, so they keep on asking me what is this shrub growing in my garden.I have to inform them of the benificials of this vegetable which I heard is consider as poor man's vegetable because we don't have to buy them.
I feel so full  whenever we include them in our morning meal. I don't have to have my snack at 10:00am.They fill you with energy to keep you going for  long hours of working.
Today , we decided to experiment on something new with saluyot leaves. We cooked noodles, but we removed the spices included in a pack , instead we just added some onions and garlic to make it more tasty. Then we added some saluyot leaves. Here's our new recipe of noodles with saluyot:
I like it..so slimy!

Yummy!!
